Gerald E. Roewer, age 82, of Reedsburg, died on Friday, April 10, 2009 in the Reedsburg Area Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on October 7, 1926 in the Town of Westfield, Sauk County, the son of Edward and Emma (Geffert) Roewer. Jerry was a 1945 graduate of Reedsburg High School. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U.S. Army. On June 7, 1952, he was united in marriage to the former Donna Faye Geffert. Jerry worked as a supervisor at Grede Foundry for many years until his retirement. He then worked at the Hoof Funeral Home assisting families at their time of loss. Jerry was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and he was currently serving on the Ridgeview Heights Independent Living Board of Directors. He was an avid Wisconsin Badgers and Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. Survivors include his wife, Donna; two children: Ronald (Marlene) Roewer, of Middleton; Jan Marks, and her special friend, Ron Derra, of Madison; five grandchildren: Jason, Kristen and Megan Roewer, Justin and Lauren Marks; his brother: Eldert (Zona) Roewer, of Prairie du Sac; a sister-in-law: Mary Jane Geffert, of Reedsburg; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at ST. PETER’S EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH in Reedsburg with Pastor Kurt Klingbeil officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery with military rites provided by the Reedsburg V.F.W. The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the HOOF FUNERAL HOME in Reedsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
