| Lucy A. Novy-Roehrs, age 100, formerly of Reedsburg, died on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City. She was born on February 21, 1912 in Woodland Township, Sauk County, the daughter of Wencle “Shorty” and Bertha (Novy) Rott. On October 19, 1932, she was united in marriage to Carl M. Novy. She was later married to Walter A. Roehrs. Lucy was a farm wife for many years. She later worked at National Sportswear and Badger Ordinance until her retirement. Lucy enjoyed reading, watching the Brewers and the Braves while they were in Milwaukee. She was also very proud of her Czech heritage. Lucy looked forward to hosting the Rott and Novy family reunions for many years.
Survivors include two daughters: Ann (Michael) Specht, of Janesville and LaRita Beier, of Reedsburg; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Elma Lawrence, of Reedsburg; Geneva Keller, of Jefferson and Irma Phephles, of Eau Claire; one brother: Waldo (Donna) Rott, of Glenwood City; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Carl Novy and Walter Roehrs; four children: Rosalyn Towne, Verna Smith, Alan Novy and infant, Carleen Novy, as well as two brothers: Cyrus and Sullivan Rott.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg with Father Thomas Monaghan officiating. Interment will be at Czech National Cemetery in Yuba. There will be a visitation from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
