| Ingrid Ellen Olson, age 46, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly from cardiac arrhythmia in her Richmond home on Wednesday, July 4, 2012. She was born on November 10, 1965 to Sigrid (Erickson) Olson and Jack Olson in Madison, WI.
Ingrid graduated from of Sunset Hill, Kansas City, MO in 1983, Wellesley College, Wellesley, MA in 1987, and William and Mary School of Law, Williamsburg, VA in 1990. At Wellesley she was captain of the swim team. She married Russell Basch in 1988 in Washington DC and was the devoted and loving mother of Annika Olson Basch who was born on November 16, 1996 in Richmond. Ingrid and Russell later divorced, and Ingrid married Christopher Champeau in 2000. Their marriage ended in 2011.
Ingrid had a rewarding career in insurance and administrative law. Currently, she served as a Hearing Examiner at the Virginia Employment Commission. Ingrid was an experienced skier, who loved visiting Colorado with her family. She was serving as President of the Stonebridge Inn Owners Association in Snowmass, CO. Ingrid continued to enjoy swimming, was an avid reader, appreciated the theater and loved to dance. In recent years, she pursued ballet, a passion she shared with her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Annika Basch; her father: Jack (Virginia Willard) Olson; her mother: Sigrid (David) Knuti of Madison, WI; two sisters: Greta (David) Landis and Erikka Knuti; niece: Elsa Landis; nephew: Henrik Landis, and good friend: Brad Spivey. She is also survived by step-children Lisande and Cameron Champeau and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service was held in Richmond on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Interment will take place at the Greenwood Cemetery in Reedsburg, WI at 11:30 AM on Sunday July 15th followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM in Madison at Bethel Lutheran Church where she was baptized. A reception will follow at the Edgewater Hotel, Madison.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance, 5008 Monument Ave. Suite B, Richmond VA 23230 or to the donor's choice.
