Gerald W. Prouty, age 81, of Hillpoint, died on Monday, July 13, 2009 at the Richland Hospital in Richland Center. He was born on May 28, 1928 in Richland Center, the son of Clayton and Blanche (Constantine) Prouty. Jerry was a 1946 graduate of Lime Ridge High School. On April 7, 1951, he was married to the former Lois J. Bristol. Jerry farmed for many years. He also worked at Badger Ordinance and the Milwaukee Valve Company. He was a lifelong member of the Sandusky United Methodist Church and a former member of the Ironton Masonic Lodge. Jerry bred, raised and rode Appaloosa horses. He planted many trees on his farm and enjoyed his apple orchard. He also enjoyed his vacation home on Lake Alice in Tomahawk. Jerry will be remembered as a wonderful husband and father. Survivors include his wife, Lois; four children: Constance J. Prouty, of Reedsburg; Mark M. Prouty, of Hillpoint; Matthew C. (Roberta) Prouty, of North Carolina and Stephen A. (Julie) Prouty, of Hillpoint; eight grandchildren: Cherish Prouty, Peter Ahles, Joshua, Adam, Steven, Daniel, Michael and Clayton Prouty; seven great grandchildren: David, Riley, Jordan, Zachary, Alexander, Anthony and Benjamin Isaac; one sister: Fern Ulvestad, of Reedsburg; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the Sandusky United Methodist Church with Pastor Vicki Brantmeyer and Pastor Marry Jefferies officiating. Interment will be in the Sandusky Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.m. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.
