Dr. Clarence W. Little Jr., age 86, of Reedsburg, died on Monday, September 21, 2009 in his home. He was born on April 28, 1923 in Crowley, LA, the son of Clarence W. and Adelia Minnet (Faulk) Little Sr.. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 242 in LaValle. He received a B.E. in EE and a D Eng degree from Johns Hopkins University, followed by a professional career in industry, including service in national offices of professional societies. After he retired from industry, he joined the Department of Engineering Professional Development at the University of Wisconsin, Madison until his retirement in 1990. He served on several corporate and non-profit boards including the Reedsburg Memorial Hospital Board and the Dutch Hollow Property Owners’ Association Board. Survivors include his wife: Bess (Burgess) Little; seven sons and stepsons: Jonathan (Barbara) Little of Scottsdale, Arizona, Peter (Deborah) Little of Milwaukee, David (Toni) Little of Titusville, Florida, Paul (Donna) Little of Wind Lake, Tom (Donna) Audetat of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Vince (Kim) Audetat of Lake Geneva and W. Renn (Dawn) Gade of Fairfax, Virginia; seven daughters and stepdaughters: Nancy (Glenn) Ahrens of American Fork, Utah, Martha Cichanowicz of Rhinelander, Sarah (William) Cook of Wauwatosa, Robin Audetat of Madison, Andree Audetat of San Francisco, California, Elizabeth (Kevin) Gade-Schara of Lodi and Leslie Erdmann of Hillpoint; his daughter-in-law: Julie Little of Reedsburg; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Eleanor (MacWithey) Little; his son, Christopher Little and his sister: Miriam (Little) Allen. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the HOOF FUNERAL HOME in Reedsburg. Military rites will be provided by the LaValle American Legion Post following the service. Interment will be at a later date in Bronswood Cemetery, Oak Brook, Illinois. The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Reedsburg Memorial Hospital Foundation or Home Health United Hospice would be appreciated. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.
