Robert Anthony Lins, age 82, of rural Spring Green and Sauk City, passed away on April 26, 2017 after a brief illness. He was born on May 13, 1934 to Raymond and Rose E. (Hetzel) Lins on the Lins Family farm. Robert married Rosemary Lehner on October 23, 1957. She preceded him in death on May 22, 1970. Survivors include his children, Dorothy (Donald) Harms of Reedsburg, Timothy (Julie) of Plain, Catherine of Prairie du Sac, Patrick (Donna) of Spring Green, Marie of Spring Green, and Theresa (Joseph Schmidt) of Milwaukee; five grandchildren: Elizabeth (Shawn) Fry, Laura (Travis) Tourdot, Brandon Harms, Joseph and Seth Lins; and two great-grandchildren: Erika and Aubrey Tourdot;, sisters: RoseMary Pulvermacher, Cecelia Speich and Marilyn (Lawrence) Downey; sisters-in-laws Mary Lins and Catherine (Joseph) Schmitz and a brother-in-law Roger Mellenberger; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters: Lorrayne Falci, and Marjorie Mellenberger and his brothers: Anthony, Bernard, Herman and Louis Lins and infant brother Edward and brothers-in-law: Michael Falci, Robert Pulvermacher, Earl Speich, John Lehner and Lawrence Lehner. Robert was a life-long member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Plain, WI and farmed his entire adult life in Big Hollow. Both his deep and abiding faith and his love of the land gave him strength as he persevered through the loss of his wife at a young age. He managed to raise six young children on his own because of his determination to keep his family together. He loved being a farmer and was happiest sitting behind the wheel of a tractor in the spring planting the next season's crop or in the fall helping out his neighbors by making stacks. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially loved swapping tall tales with his friends in the Monogramming Department at Lands’ End. There wasn't a church chicken BBQ he didn’t like and he made it to every polka mass within a 100 mile radius of Spring Green. The family would especially like to thank the staff at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie in Sauk City for their outstanding care of Robert in his later years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 12:00 noon at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Plain with Father Christopher Padilla officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. There will be a visitation held on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and from 11:00 am until time of the service on Saturday all at St. Luke's Catholic Church. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 P.M. on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Luke's School, P.O Box 205, Plain, WI 53577. The Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg is serving the family.
