Theron "Terry" Ellsworth Struble, age 89, of Reedsburg, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017. He was born December 18, 1927 in Sparta, Wisconsin, the son of Raymond Ellsworth and Mabel Lorraine Struble. On Feb. 7, 1953, he was married to Barbarajean Elizabeth Williamson. Together they had three children: Linda, Nancy and Timothy. Terry's greatest source of enjoyment was his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He often said he didn't know what he would do without his family. Terry served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 - 1947 where he traveled around the world. Terry worked for Bell Telephone and GTE (General Telephone Electric) until he retired. After retirement, he and his wife Barbara opened up the Prairie Rose Bed and Breakfast in Avoca, WI, and ran that for eight years, where they enjoyed meeting all their guests with a smile and a hot meal. Survivors include his three children, Linda (Sheridan) Silvers of Reedsburg, Nancy (Daniel) Engebretson, of Reedsburg, and Timothy Struble of Avoca. Terry was blessed with three wonderful grandchildren, Ryan Colby (Mackenzie), Heather Dumas (Darnell), and Ty Struble. He was doubly blessed to be called “Great Grandpa Struble” by his 4 great-grandchildren, Kennedy, George, and Corbin Colby, children of Ryan and Mackenzie Colby and Thelonious Dumas son of Heather and Darnell Dumas. He is also survived by his younger sister, Barbara "Bobbie" Spencer. Terry is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Struble, his father and mother and his sister, Arlise Jewell. The family wishes to thank the fantastic nurses, doctors and social workers at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center along with the staff at Casa de Oakes and the excellent staff from Agrace Hospice who provided excellent care for him. The family would also like to personally extend a special thank you to Maggie Kahler at the Specialty Clinic who treated Terry more like a family member than a patient. Her kind and considerate care over the years is very much appreciated. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 10:00 am. Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg with George Burnham officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Agrace Hospice Care or the American Heart Association. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.
