Joe Meyer Sr., age 73, of Reedsburg, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at his home. He was born on October 24, 1944, the son of Lawrence and Rosalie (Jaquish) Meyer. On August 22, 1964, he was married to the former Connie Markley at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hillpoint. Joe was a lifelong farmer in the Lime Ridge area. Survivors include his wife, Connie; three children: Joe Jr. (Wendy) Meyer, of Reedsburg; Margo (John) Solchenberger, of Cazenovia and Jon (Laurie) Meyer, of Reedsburg; his father-in-law: Conrad Markley, of Reedsburg; nine grandchildren: Jodi (Josh) Behn, of Reedsburg; Jackie (Greg) Wilkinson, of North Freedom; Jacob Meyer, and his fiancée, Katie Knuth, of Loganville; Bradley (Sarah) Solchenberger, of Cazenovia; Lindsey (Nik) Hanko, of Eau Claire; Heidi Solchenberger, of LaCrosse; Ashley, Jonny and Jeffery Meyer, of Reedsburg; nine great grandchildren; his sister: Jeanie (Steven) Winters, of Waukesha; two brothers: Kenny Meyer, of Riverton, Wyoming and Fritz (Connie) Meyer, of Dubois, Wyoming; two sisters-in-law: Vicki (Clark) Thompson, of Loganville and LaVonne (Fred) Reinecke, of Rock Springs; his brother-in-law: Ron (Karen) Markley, of Prairie du Sac; special friends: Jim and Joyce Huebsch, of Hillpoint and Chuck Herzing, of Cazenovia; nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother: Bob Meyer and his mother-in-law: Norma Markley. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hillpoint with Pastor Tim Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. There will be a visitation from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg and after 10:00 A.M. on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hillpoint would be appreciated. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.
