John Franklin Sigafus, age 85, of Hayward, formerly of Reedsburg, died on Friday, May 31, 2019 in his home. He was born on July 17, 1933 in Wisconsin Dells, the son of John Franklin and Louisa (Paige) Sigafus Sr. He married Shirley Olsen in 1954 and they later divorced. He later married the former Shirley Miller Gardner on May 14, 1976. John ran his own garage in Reedsburg for over 20 years. After moving to Hayward, he worked in various garages until his retirement in 1998. John was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Hayward. He was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge and the Zor Shrine. John served as Worship Master and Secretary of the lodge for seventeen years. He sold Vidalia onions and Christmas trees with the Shriners for many years. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, motorcycles and motors. He traveled all over on his motorcycle as well as the road motorcycles in parades with the Shriners where he was nicknamed "Sparky." John also enjoyed potlucks and spending time together with his with family and friends. He and his wife, Shirley, did many things together. Survivors include his wife: Shirley; five children: John Jr. (Julie), Sue Kaney, Jeff, Jamie (Amy) and Joe; three stepchildren: Linda (Mark) Kener, Diana (Mike) Gruenert and Martha (Mark) Meyer; 23 grandchildren including 3 special grandchildren: Numb Nuts, Hemorroid and My Fishing Buddy; 35 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters: Margaret Waltman, Ethel Deinberg and Iva Sigafus; 2 brothers: Carl, Earl and Jerry; his stepson: Dennis Gardner and his grandson: Joey Sigafus. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg. There will be a visitation from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home Inurnment will be at the Big Creek Cemetery in LaValle. The family is requesting no flower and plants. Please consider a memorial to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.
