Jeanette Ruth (Conklin) Kelley, age 104, of Reedsburg, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 in the Reedsburg Area Medical Center. She was born on September 22, 1914 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Earl and Gertrude (Zimmerman) Conklin. When she was three weeks old, her parents moved to Dunbar in Marinette County. She graduated from Niagara High School in 1932. Jeanette moved to Reedsburg in 1934 with her brother, Clifford. During this time, she met the love of her life, Kenneth Kelley. They were married on June 4, 1938. They were blessed to have celebrated sixty-nine years together. Their marriage was blessed with two children: William "Bill" and Sue Ellen. Jeanette worked as a secretary in the insurance department of Hankscraft and Gerber for thirteen years. She loved to watch sports on TV and was a fan of Wisconsin Badgers football and basketball, Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers as well as many other sporting events. Jeanette was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and their societies and The Eastern Star, where she was a Past Worthy Matron. She was also an avid card player, especially bridge. Survivors include her two children: William (Mary) Kelley, of Crystal Falls, Michigan; Sue Ellen and Marcus Danford, of Deming, New Mexico; very special friends: Pat (Clarence) Lee, Cindy Smith and Shelby Gregory; one sister: Doris Foley, of Menomonie Falls; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband: Ken; her son-in-law: Evan Meyer; five brothers: Clifford, Russell, Roger, Robert and Vernon Conklin; one sister: Blanche Hall. An Eastern Star service will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg where a visitation will be held from 12 noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Church of God in Reedsburg or the Eastern Star would be appreciated. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.
