Donald E. "Shorty" Ward, age 84, of Lime Ridge, died on Sunday, October 6, 2019 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on December 13, 1934 in Liberty, Vernon County, the son of Sheldon and Victorine (Coy) Ward Sr. On October 19, 1957, he was married to the former Shirley A. Fry. Don worked at the R.S. & L. Cooperative as a furnace repairman. He enjoyed horse pulling, tinkering in the garage, yard work, traveling and spending time with his family. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife: Shirley; three daughters: Rita (Butch) Clark, of LaValle; Marylu (Jeff) Seidel, of Cazenovia and Laura (Dave) Biesek, of Reedsburg; five grandchildren: Jessica Towne and Chris Stibbe, Jeanete (Derek) Boxwell, Haley (Andrew) Lamprecht, Sara Biesek and Adam Liegel, Donnie ( Liz) Biesek; six great-grandchildren: Austin, Ayron, Alyshia, Aydyn, Hunter and Grayson; two brothers: Bill (Tressa) Ward and Sheldon Ward, both of Richland Center; five sisters: Joan (Fred) Hawkinson, of Minnesota; Bonnie Anderson, of Richland Center; Evelyn (Rick) Burmester, of Kenosha; Peggy (Frank) Long, of Salem and Marilyn (Darrel) James, of North Carolina; many nieces and nephews; special neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandson: Jason; his brother: Roger and three sisters: Donna Craig, Inez Adsit and Delores Laybourn. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Lime Ridge with Pastor Daniel Lewig and Pastor James Korthels officiating. There will be a visitation from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church would be appreciated. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.
