Ruth M. Wacholtz, age 92, of Reedsburg, died peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2019 in the Reedsburg Area Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born on November 17, 1926 in Neenah, the daughter of C.B. and Marie (Eggert) Andersen. Ruth was a 1944 graduate of Menasha High School. She attended Lawrence University where she obtained her BA in Music. Ruth was then given a scholarship to the University of Indiana where she earned her MA degree in Music. On October 31, 1953, she was married to Frederick J. Wacholtz. Ruth was a music teacher in the Reedsburg School District for over forty years. She had played for numerous weddings, funerals, weekly masses and she also enjoyed accompanying numerous students for solo ensemble. Ruth enjoyed sewing, making hanging kitchen towels, Christmas ornaments and Christmas stockings for each member of her family. Survivors include her four children: Mary (Fred) Blachly, of Rochester, Minnesota; Carolyn (Dale) Bohl, of Reedsburg; Ronald Wacholtz, of Reedsburg and Barbara Wacholtz, of Cazenovia; seven grandchildren: Donny (Allie) Blachly, Annie (Dave) Estes, Mike Bohl, Wendy Bohl (Tim Trevorrow), Cori (Ken) Gasser, Nathan Bauer (Halie Voigtlander), and Kaity Bauer; seven great-grandchildren: Maren, Austin, Dylan, Keegan, Kailee, Chloe, Darius and another on the way; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, on November 17, 2009; an infant son: William; her sister: Gwen and a half- brother: Lawrence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:30 A.M. on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg with Father David Carrano officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in the Town of Winfield. There will be a visitation from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg where a scripture service will be held at 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Webb Middle School Band Program would be appreciated. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.
